Funny: Grandmaster Jokes

“German grandmaster Wolfgang Unzicker loved to tell jokes, even at the most inappropriate occasions. He would often start telling one immediately after a chess game, while he and his opponent were still signing the scoresheet.

Once he tried doing that after a game against Vasja Pirc. He started with the customary: ‘Excuse me, grandmaster, but did I ever tell you this joke..’

‘Is it good?’ – asked Pirc.

‘ Oh, excellent.’- replied Unzicker.

‘Then it means you haven’t told it to me.’ “

Queen City Classic 2018

Hello Everyone!

Positive Chess, the Bethany School chess team, recently went to the annual Queen City Classic Chess Tournament.  We had a solid performance.  All our players score 3 point or above out of a possible 5 points.  Our 5th grade team placed 4th place out of 22 teams. (1 point away from getting a team trophy)  Our 6th grade team (with only 2 players instead of 3) place 6th out of 17 teams.  With one of our players Kaeden placing 2nd in his section out of 72 player!

It was an awesome event, we are improving every year and expect to do even better next year!

In The Queen City Tournament, Kaeden Places Second

Hi, guys!

This is Kaeden telling you about our trip to the annual Queen City Classic!

Positive Chess, the Bethany School chess team, recently went to this big event. I played in the sixth grade non-rated and scored 4.5 point out of a possible 5 points.  I ended up being second place in the grade out of 71 players.  So that meant  I won a trophy along with the medal that everyone in the chess tournament that completes five games gets.  The 6th grade team placed 7th out of 17 teams and we only had 2 players in the section!

It was an awesome event, we had a blast and I look forward to going again next year!
